I'm a photographer from the Texas panhandle, I enjoy traveling, outdoors, and the night sky. That's pretty much what you'll see here in my portfolio.

Recently, I was selected for the Artist In Residence program at the Petrified Forest National Park. I'll complete my residency there this summer during the peak of both heat and tourist season! I look forward to spending weeks in the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert with my cameras. I can't wait to see what I come home with.

Melany Sarafis served her country for 24 years and recently retired from the USAF as a First Sergeant.
She thinks it's really stupid when photographers refer to themselves in the 3rd person on their biographies.

I needed to do something "low speed" after a successful but stressful military career. I've have been an avid photographer for a few years and enjoy this "internal" creative process. I am now a full time student at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Tx, persuing a BFA in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Photography and Jewelry/Metal Work.

I'm happiest when I'm outdoors with nature, and I love history, geology and the night sky. I feel my spirit soar when I'm outside! I enjoy exploring ghost towns and searching for petroglyphs. You can usually find me on hiking trails in state and national parks with my camera - I'm the one looking at pretty rocks, flowers and geologic formations.

After taking an Art History course and learning a little about the Renaissance, I've become enamored with this art era. I took a trip to Florence Italy this summer (the home of the Renaissance) and found a lot of inspiration there. I only wish I was as talented as the painters of that era. I enjoy creating 'wearable art' made from copper, brass, bronze and sterling silver and will be adding more offerings here soon.

I enjoy traveling and exploring new places, but I hate flying. I'm always ready for a road trip - usually to a state or national park - often in a 31' motor home.

If you see something you like, but prefer a different size than what is offered here, please contact me. I can print any size you like on photo paper, and some sizes on canvas. I would require payment via PayPal for these custom sizes, so don't use the checkout link here.
I'll work with you if you want to order through this site, or through me personally. I'll also offer discount codes for multiple purchases. You can contact me here or through my website www.melanysart.com
