The inside of the dome in Florence, a fresco of The Last Judgement, started by Giorgio Vasari and finished by Federico Zuccari after Vasari died, painted 1572-79. Art Historians are critical of the painting, and I can understand why, except for this top portion which I enjoy. It looks like a balcony high above the Cathedral, with people looking down and climbing over the railing.

Executed from a theological program, Vasari planned 5 "registers" (layers) of scenes. This is the top register, near the cupola, and depicts a false loggia in a temple with the twenty-four elders of the Apocalypse.

Melany Sarafis served her country for 24 years and recently retired from the USAF as a First Sergeant.
